NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in New Lover

I have a long overdue post today on an item I "purchased" with my Sephora points (lol finally they amounted to something). I actually have way more Sephora points than one actually should have and the reason is because none of the stuff ever seems to really catch my eye. As well, my past "Sephora points purchases" turned out to be disappointing.

I spent 100 points on the Lip pencil and I'm actually glad that I did.







These Velvet Gloss Pencils were a new addition to their Lip Pencil line little more than a year ago. New Lover is actually a very pretty deep berry pink colour with golden shimmer. It looks very reddish when swatched, but actually pulls lighter on lips. It's perfect for having coloured lips if you specifically don't want to wear red lipstick.





The colour went on very vividly and evenly. As well, I was quite surprised at how glossy my lips look (I really did not expect this from the swatch alone). Surprisingly, this made my lips feel very moisturized and lasted well past the 3 hour mark. This was definitely not what I was expecting from a lip pencil; I don't even get this type of wear or moisture from the Revlon Colorstay Lip stain pencils.

In all, this really surprised me in terms of colour and comfort. The only backside is that they don't twist up and they are quite soft (one side is just dented from my single use of it alone). If they were more convenient they would make quite wonderful additions to your make-up stash, but that alone shouldn't deter you. This lip pencil is actually a very high quality product.
